Earlier this morning at Mobile World Congress, we got a chance to conduct a small group interview with Nokia’s freshly minted CEO, Stephen Elop. With Nokia’s big announcement this past Friday now in the rear view mirror, there was plenty to talk about, of course — and Elop, who has a reputation for being very candid, did not disappoint. “Our competition isn’t other Windows Phone manufacturers, it’s Android,” said the CEO. What will Nokia do to combat the little green alien and regain a foothold in the U.S.? Hit the jump for the full audio from the interview to find out.

Nokia updates the social app with new features
As many of you know I am not a fan of the Social app on current Symbian phones. In the past numerous problems I have encountered while using the application have pushed me away from using it. One example would be launching the application to find my account has been signed off over and over again. Nokia has now released an update to the Social app with several new features that in my opinion should have been in place before going live with it in the first place. Putting this all aside, starting with a clean slate, I’m willing to give it another shot to see if things have improved. I will let you know what I think in a couple of days. New Contacts Card capabilities
- See your friends’ status updates right from their Contacts Card—now you can see what your friends are up to before you make a phone call.
- Linked Contacts Indicator enables you to see whose Contacts Cards are socially enabled and whose are not. Now you can manage your social networks more efficiently. No need to sync all you Social contacts at once, just pick and chose your closest friends and always know what they are up to.
New Share capabilities
- Add caption when sharing pictures from your camera to bring your photos to life.
- Higher resolution picture upload up to 4 MB so what you share is clear and sharp.
